Irina Sher

Founder of Clinical Skin Science
An innovator at heart, Armenian-born Irina Sher is best characterized by her ability to find solutions and opportunities when a challenge presents itself. From her arrival in the United States almost twenty years ago with only $312 in her pocket and no knowledge of the English language to her success as an entrepreneur in the competitive skin care industry, Irina has always welcomed a challenge and the chance to excel—an attitude clearly reflected in the quality and in-depth research behind Skin Care Science.

Having left her home in the former Soviet Union before Communism collapsed, Irina arrived in Los Angeles with few apparent resources or advantages. However, she was in fact well prepared for the challenges of her new country: Irina’s parents (both college professors in Armenia) had greatly valued education, instilling in their daughter a belief that with the proper knowledge and experience, any accomplishment was in reach. She quickly learned English and as well as how use her mineralogy studies in Armenia, where she learned about healing properties so widely present in nature, to launch her career as an esthetician.

For the past ten years, Irina has practiced in the prestigious winter and summer resort of Sun Valley, Idaho. Given this exclusive mountain locale, her clientele is well traveled, with a particular taste for outdoor sport and adventure in any season. As a result, Irina’s practice specializes in high-quality care for sophisticated clients seeking to protect and restore skin health as they travel between dramatically different climates and face extremes in temperature, dryness, and humidity. In a typical day, Irina may care for skin conditions ranging from exposure to long days on the ski slopes to acclimatization to the mountain air.

As her skin care business has thrived, Irina has expanded her knowledge in cosmetics through advanced cosmetic chemistry courses, where she has worked with leading scientists and chemists. This education is the foundation of her Clinical Skin Science line, which Irina founded in 2004.

Clinical Skin Science formulas were developed to meet the demands of active lifestyles, where protection from harsh mountain conditions is a priority, as well as healing and restoration—all according to individual skin type. Irina’s products are designed for people who are exposed to outdoor elements and may travel frequently between varying climates.
Irina is also dedicated to helping others through donations from a portion of Clinical Skin Science product sales. Camp Rainbow Gold, a summer camp in the mountains of Central Idaho for children with cancer, is one of her recipients. As her business expands, one of Irina’s top goals is to also expand her philanthropic reach.
